Don’t Drink & Drive
September 26, 2015 6:15 pm Leave your thoughtsThis month marks 18 years since I have been a quadriplegic. I have learned many lessons in these last 18 years but one of the main ones is never become dependent on drugs or alcohol instead of dealing with your issues.
I would like to share parts of the speech I gave in 2013 when I was asked to be part of the “Every 15 Minutes” program at Sedona Red Rock High School. I talked to a few hundred students the day before their prom and tried to make them think twice about drinking and driving.
As you watch this video think about the last time you drove drunk. Think about the last time you chose to turn to alcohol instead of dealing with whatever you have going on in your life. Was it worth it? Did it move you closer to where you want to be in life?
I hope my story will make you realize that you don’t need to do drugs or drink to be happy. The decisions you make today will go with you the rest of your life. Every bad decision has a consequence. If you deal with this now you won’t have to lose your family, or your loved ones or have to deal with a situation like me. If you realize drugs and alcohol control you, turn you into someone you’re not, and give you nothing but problems you will be better off than most people. Make the decision NOW to live sober. Be on top of your game so that when opportunities in life happen, you can take advantage of them.
